Thomas Boulousis, Thessaloniki, Greece

Thomas Boulousis is a 15-year-old violinist, pianist and composer of solo, chamber, symphonic and film music works. Despite his young age, he has been accepted by City, University of London to study for a Bachelor of Music degree with a performance scholarship. Thomas holds the Associate Diploma in Music Theory (AMusTCL) and the Licentiate Diploma in Music Composition (LTCL) from Trinity College London. Over the last 5 years he has been a member of Megaro Youth Symphony Orchestra “MOYSA” in Thessaloniki, Greece. He has also taken part in summer academies in Austria, Bulgaria and England, where he had lessons with internationally-renowned tutors and performed at important venues.

Matthew Caren, Palo Alto, California, United States

Matthew Caren is 17 years old and a current senior at Palo Alto High School. Film scoring brings together Matthew’s passion for creating original music with his interest in exploring and evoking human emotion through musical expression. Matthew makes music in a broad range of genres, equally at ease with jazz, orchestral, funk, rock, blues, gospel, and electronic music. As a pianist, Matthew enjoys improvisation as well as composition. He is honored to have received three First Place MTAC Composition/Film Scoring awards and been chosen multiple times for the Improvisation Honors Recital. He is active in jazz circles at the Community School of Music and Arts at Finn Center in Mountain View, CA, and has participated at the advanced levels of the Stanford Jazz Workshop, where he was recognized with an Outstanding Soloist Award. In addition to his focus on piano, Matthew is also a multi-instrumentalist who is self-taught in vocals, guitar, bass, drums and percussion.

Isabella Dussias is a 17 year old composer/singer-songwriter. She enjoys writing classical music, film scores, and contemporary/pop music. She was an ASCAP finalist in 2016 and 2017 and 2019, as well as a Marvin Hamlisch International Film Scoring finalist in 2016, 2017, and 2018. Isabella received honorable mention in the National Young Composer’s Challenge, for her orchestral work “Colors of Spring” in 2016. Her compositions have been performed in Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and Ehrbar Hall in Vienna, Austria. Her choral pieces have been performed in the greater NYC area. Isabella strongly believes in the promotion of works by female composers, and will be discussing this at the 2020 HERlead national female leadership conference. She performed her original pop songs at Kara Dioguardi’s Tri-State Rocks in 2018, the Hillsborough Music Festival in 2018, and virtually debuted an original musical theatre song in May of 2020 as part of the New York Youth Symphony Musical Theatre Composition Program.

Having learnt piano from the age of five I was exposed to a variety of music from classical, jazz to commercial music. In my formative years I enjoy composing for various styles, winning a fanfare competition for all students in the UK which will be played at the St Judes Proms. I have also been shortlisted out of 3 finalists for the national NCEM young composers competition 2020. The first place prize will be performed by the Tallis Scholars in the Cadogan Hall recorded by BBC Radio 3. Currently I attend Junior Guildhall School of Music and Drama on the weekends. My ambition is to go to music conservatoire in London to study film music. I sing in the schools Chapel Choir but have a profound love for singing jazz standards and performing in venues outside of school. My fitness is very important to me and I am a very keen tennis player.

Sydney Wang (b. 2002) is a Los Angeles-based composer studying with Professor Ian Krouse of the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music. She has been in the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s Nancy and Barry Sanders Composer Fellowship Program since 2017. Her works have won top prizes in competitions for young composers, including the BMI Student Composer Award. She has completed commissions for ensembles such as the Pasadena Symphony and the Modesto Symphony, and has written works for the Lyris Quartet and the Los Angeles Philharmonic. In addition, Sydney has been playing the piano since the age of four and is currently studying with Dr. Sarkis Baltaian., Sydney Wang (b. 2002) is a Los Angeles-based composer studying with Professor Ian Krouse of the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music.
